John Evert
John Evert is the Founder and Managing Partner of the Evert Tennis Academy. John has developed and managed top junior, collegiate and professional players for over 30 years.
John was raised in a tennis family whose name is synonymous with American Tennis. John’s father, revered tennis coach Jimmy Evert, saw all five of his children compete and win National titles. John’s sister and Evert Tennis Academy co-owner, Chris Evert, continues to be recognized as one of the greatest tennis players and most iconic sports figures of all time.
During his Junior Tennis Career, he was ranked in the Top 10 of the United State Tennis Association and won the Junior Orange Bowl Championship. After his junior tennis career, John held the number 1 position and served as the captain at Vanderbilt University.
Prior to establishing the Evert Tennis Academy, John was the Vice President of IMG’s Tennis Division where he served as an agent for recruiting and developing tennis talent. During his time at IMG, John oversaw the developmental plans for countless IMG clients such as Jim Courier and Pete Sampras, while simultaneously managing the careers of several top ten players including Mary Joe Fernandez, Pam Shriver and
Jennifer Capriati.
After 12 years of Coaching at Evert Tennis Academy, The United States Olympic Committee recognized John’s coaching achievements by naming him the 2009 Developmental Coach of the Year. At the Evert Tennis Academy, John coached and developed Andy Roddick, Sebastien Grosjean, Madison Keys, Lauren Davis and numerous National and NCAA Champions. John has been a consultant for the USTA, Chinese Tennis Association and works closely with coaches and Federations located in Central America and the Bahamas. Currently, IMG, CAA and Octagon all send players to John for coaching and evaluation. John also advises Lacoste and Wilson (Academy Sponsors) on their junior sponsorship programs. While John has been very successful in managing and coaching athletes, as well as running a tennis academy, his true passion continues to be developing young talent.
