Ajla Tomljanovic Takes Plantation Open Title

The 16-year-old from Croatia entered as a qualifier, overcame the odds to defeat No. 3 Johanna Larsson of Sweden, 6-3, 6-3 in the womens's final of the Plantation Open on Sunday at the Veltri Tennis Center. Having moved to Boca Raton about two and a half years ago, Tomljanovic enrolled in the Evert Tennis Academy. With Chrissie Evert watching Saturday's semifinal between Tomjlanovic and Columbia's Mariana Duque-Marino, Evert passed on some advice. "Yesterday, I was not hitting drop shots and Chrissie came to me and said 'You can't play like this.' You have to use the drop shot. It's going to make a huge difference in winning or losing and it actually showed today," said Tomljanovic.
